Welcome back!

We spent today working in MATHia. I also shared that we'll be taking Common Assessment #3 next week on Monday.

Here's to a wonderful, safe, and relaxing Thanksgiving to all of you!

The current MATHia grading period will close on Sunday 11/22 at midnight. Make sure to meet your goals by then. Any work done after that point will count towards the next MATHia grading period.

Also, this would be a great time to get caught up in MATHia, if you're behind. We're in Chapter 6 in our book, so you should be on Chapter 6 in MATHia too (island #5).

Thursday 11/19

Today we finished Lesson 6.1 by using the Pythagorean Theorem to find missing sides of right triangles.

Homework: Textbook pages 332-333 (#3, 6) & page 334 (#1b, d)

Wednesday 11/18

We participated in a math lab today where we investigated the Pythagorean Theorem and discovered why it works and from where it comes with Lesson 6.1.

We did the first experiment together as a class; you'll do the 2nd and 3rd on your own tonight.

Homework: Finish textbook pages 315-329. Be sure to read the instructions carefully.

Tuesday 11/17

I was away today, but in my absence you worked in MATHia improving your procedural skills and fluency.

Monday 11/16

Today we took a look at the real number system with a card sort activity. Please be sure to finish up any unfinished class work at home tonight, and complete the back side for homework.

We'll share answers together later this week.

For those that were absent, you'll need the slides from class and card deck to complete this at home.

Friday 11/13

We wrapped up Chapter 4 this week, which means we've completed our look at functions this year.

On to rational and irrational numbers, right triangles, and the Pythagorean Theorem next week!

Tuesday 11/10

We worked on a piecewise function activity in class today (instead of Lesson 4.5). It was awesome!

When we come back from our Veteran's Day holiday, we'll be taking the Chapter 4 Test on Thursday. Be sure to study your pre-test, your chapter summary pages, and all the homework and class work from Chapter 4 to get yourself ready!

Monday 11/9

Today we reviewed the homework form last Thursday and took a look at some correct and incorrect solutions from the Function Carnival activity. It's not too late to finish it up, if you'd like (or have your parents try it!). See Thursday's post from last week for your class code.

After all that, we passed back MATHia grades and spent the rest of the class period working in MATHia.

We'll be taking our Chapter 4 test on Thursday this week! Ten minutes of studying a night will help set you up for success.

Thursday 11/5

Today we passed back the chapter 3 tests, went over them together, and then went over last night's homework.

Tonight is a great night to practice mastering some of the things that have been tricky for your recently.

Wednesday HW Solutions: Rates of Change worksheet answer key

Those that earned lower than a C on the test are encouraged to study their work at home, learn from mistakes they made, and retake the test next week at lunch. You can improve your grade up to a 75% by showing you've mastered the skills on a retake.

Wednesday 11/4

We finished Lesson 4.3 today and are now proficient with both the standard form and the slope-intercept form for linear equations, including converting from one form to the other.

Tuesday 11/3

Today we worked with equations written in standard form in the first half of Lesson 4.3.
